Music & Metaphysics

I do not know enough about sacred geometry in music to explain the mathematics of sound in a metaphysical language clearly, but I thought it appropriate to make a note of it before entering the 5th chakra of ether, speech and communication.

An understanding of numerology and sacred geometry along with yogic physiology (each petal of the chakra resonating to a sound) and the Nakshatras (each pada or 108th part of a star connected to a Sanskrit sound) reveals that nature, including our bodies, minds and thoughts, is nothing but thought vibratory waves from the original AUM vibration to the 7 levels of the Gayatri (as explained in an earlier post). Swami informs us that we should repeat the Vedas out loud as this is not just a service for our own upliftment (purifying and controlling the mind) but has a sacred purifying effect on our environment too. And, perhaps the whole of the Universe and nature is nothing but the intelligence of the mantras in motion but relatively disturbed due to the Kali age we live in. The Vedas and the Sanskrit language (with its music having 7 swaras and 64 sounds) are so sacred because the meaning and vibratory resonance in these mystical formulae are inter-connected into the harmony of natures structure. By repeating them we tap into natures powers as well as sanctify the elements. I think the school is going to be teaching all this and interconnecting western metaphysical traditions with Veda, Mantra (Yantra and Tantra), Yoga, Vastu (Indian Geomancy) and Jyotisha. For example, Pythagorus who opened the first metaphysical school of the West in Greece, studied the "music of the sphere" and the law of correspondences (as above so below). He not only developed the pythagorus theorum for geometry but also the science of numerology for the alphabet that we use in the English language. The Renaissance revealed the beauty in the symmetry and 3 dimensional geometry in art and classical music the mathematics behind musics structure, and now science is revealing more and more the importance of symmetry in physics. In Vedanta, this symmetry is caused by the cosmic karmic law and intelligence of harmony formed by the Satwa Guna (balancing the forces of creation and destruction). In Jyotish, this is related to Saturns exaltation in Libra 9the sig of the scales, beauty and harmony).

So eventually, perhaps sciences String Theory (science), classical & Vedic music (art) and metaphysics (Vedanta, Buddist, Western - Pythagorus etc.) might all come together as part of the theory of everything through understaning more clearly the inter-relationship of number (time), sound (space) and sacred geometry (3 dimensional light show).
